Salamanders were very common implements in Colonial and European hearth cooking. This heavy 3/8"-thick paddle was designed to be heated over the fire until very hot and then used to brown the tops of various foods.
The paddle has one beveled edge so it can also be used as a peel to set and remove items in and out of the oven. This 25" long Salamander with its ramshorn finial is a reproduction of period examples. The paddle is 5” in diameter.
